Morocco is a country built around markets, or souks, each of the large cities has two centers, a modern town center and an old, walled town called the medina built around a souk. These however are not the traders who caught my attention, I fell for the traders selling everyday food stuffs to the population, primarily in Tangier and Fez.
These traders are selling to a large number of illiterate people so an effective way of communicating which type of meat they are selling is to leave the head of the animal prominent on the stall, this way no-one gets camel when they really wanted lamb.
The fish market in Tangier was an especially vibrant place, there were noises, smells and colours, and the fish were fantastic.
The people were not the only interested passers by .
Slur love markets.
